Course Information
The Oxford Home Schooling Key Stage 3 Maths course has been designed to gently introduce your child to the various aspects of the Key Stage 3 Maths curriculum. It is written in an informal and lively style with plenty of diagrams and illustrations to keep your child engaged with the material.
The course is divided into three one year sections, corresponding to the school years, 7, 8 and 9. Some students may take three years to complete the course, others may take two years or proceed even more quickly. By the end of the course, students should be in a good position to tackle a GCSE or IGCSE programme (Key Stage 4) in earnest.
The course covers the National Curriculum for Years 7 to 9, otherwise known as Key Stage 3.
Each year has between 15 and 16 lessons and 6 tutor-marked assignments.

Online Course or Paper Based? Additional Tuition? It’s your choice!
All of our Ks3 students receive:
- Traditional printed learning materials
- Access to our online resources with on-the-go access to all your regular lessons
- The support of a fully qualified teacher online and by phone
- You will have the same tutor through your course which will enable you to build a good working relationship. They generally work some evenings and weekends as well as through the holidays.
- You also have the choice of purchasing extra one to one tutor time on an ad hoc basis for those few occasions when you may feel you need it.
Course price
The course fee for each one of our one-year Key Stage 3 Maths courses is £325.
You may pay using our interest-free easy payment scheme. Pay a £65 deposit followed by eight monthly instalments of £32.50.

As students work through a course they have support from a qualified tutor that has a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or a degree in education. The course fee includes
- Printed and online course materials so you can study in multiple ways
- The marking and feedback of a series of assignments marked by your personal, PGCE-qualified tutor
- The marking of a past paper included in the course
- Telephone and email support from your personal tutor to assist your understanding of the course materials
Meet Our Tutors
I taught mainstream secondary mathematics for a while then moved into teaching secondary aged children in their homes who were not at school for various reasons. Because of this, I have taught all kinds of children with all kinds of problems. This means it is hard to surprise me, I am tolerant, empathic and have a great deal of patience.
I believe that each person understands the world in a different way so need to be taught in a way that is right for them, to do this you teach the person not the subject.

Are there any exams for Maths Key Stage 3 Courses?
No.
KS3 courses are the building blocks designed to prepare your child to begin studying for GCSE, which does conclude with examinations.
With no exams to worry about, your child can take as much or as little time as they need to assimilate the basic principles in KS3. In school, this can be when gifted children become bored and troublesome if they find it all too slow and easy while others may be put off learning if they have not had time to grasp the early stages of a subject. Thanks to its one-to-one approach, Oxford Home Schooling has the flexibility to cope with both of these extremes and everyone in between.
What happens if we don't understand something in the course materials?
This is where your individual tutor will be invaluable. They know exactly what students should be learning and how to give parents the confidence to monitor progress and support their children.
You can speak to the tutor by phone or email and we also have the facility for you to purchase additional one-on-one time with a tutor if you hit a particularly tricky patch.
Will my tutor chase me to send in work?
Our tutors recognize that each individual progresses at their own pace and follows a unique timetable; however, the onus of adhering to that timetable rests primarily at home.
Should you arrange with your tutor to submit an assignment every four weeks, for instance, and they receive nothing, they may issue a gentle reminder. If this reminder goes unheeded, they will not persist. The absence of communication will be interpreted as you having a valid reason.
It is both courteous and prudent to inform your tutor if you anticipate a delay in submitting an assignment or if you decide to take a break for any reason. However, unlike in a school setting, ensuring your child remains on course is not the tutor’s obligation; that responsibility is yours.
As the accountable adult, it is advisable to request copies of all work submitted. Rest assured, the tutor will include you in all correspondence regarding their feedback.
